Vibration & Resonance

Vibrations:

Not all vibrations are good. I think of the time I got "bad vibes" from the man that was following me, my sister and niece though the dark city streets in a foreign city. He was walking behind us in the shadows for a while, yet none of us saw him we all felt his presence. We stopped simultaneously and in sync with one another to confront the mystery man. He passed us, then waited for us to pass him again as he followed us to our destination. Thankfully nothing bad happened but it was his vibes that were a warning sign to us and I believe our collective vibe back that put a protective barrier between us and the strange being. This is just one example of bad vibes. Of course there are the more direct negative impacts of vibrations causing harm to our health such as cell phones, their corresponding towers and other electronic resonances. These are not all bad, yet they are not all good either.
The good vibrations are what keep me in tune throughout the days, weeks, years. The walks in the forest, barefoot to earth, submerging body in mud, the singing bowl at night before bedtime, the deep, low intentional humming, kittens purring on your chest, the ocean.
Surfing or being on a board in the ocean is what I think of most when I think of vibration and resonance. Unless you have experienced it yourself, it may be difficult to imagine. When you are waiting for a wave to come in you can sometimes feel the swell of the ocean long before you can see it. You can paddle to the correct spot where you think, and know the wave will break, before it begins to crest on the horizon. I think of this as the waters of my body being in tune with the movement on the ocean in  a way I visually cannot "see" yet I can feel it deep inside and must trust, knowing it is there.

Resonance:

I was nine when the 1989 Earthquake hit the bay area. My sister was in college at SF State and had a major panic attack before the quake hit. She came home to our family house in the east bay hours before the disaster. My uncle was on the bridge, en route to the world series game, sitting in traffic. It was my best friend's birthday and her dad was stuck in SF at work. I was trying to ride my bike to her house and my dog was acting completely unusual, circling and barking at my bike as I rode away from home. He did not want me to leave therefore I was back at my house by the time the earthquake hit. I remember every detail of the day. The sound of the trees as the earth shook what felt like miles away. At the exact moment of the earthquake I was roller skating in the back yard, I could watch the brick patio roll up at me like a wave....The moments of the shake felt like hours. Completely unreal.
As the hours and days passed we watched the horror of the disaster over and over on the television, followed by many aftershocks. I remember the Nimitz freeway collapse. After every thing calmed we learned it was because of the soil type the freeway was built upon. In fact it appeared most of the damage was not because of the earthquake alone, but compounded because of the soil types.
This was fascinating to me, but I never knew it was more about resonance of the soil and the freeway itself.

Energy & Qi:

Energy is the ability to move, it can be stored or in motion or can be transferred to other objects. Qi is the lifeforce. It is pumping though our body and all things in our life. At times it can be blocked with stagnation and cause disharmonies, but Qi can be moved and harnessed and nourished.
Energy and Qi are one in the same from my understanding.
