Loafing

Loafing! without feeling guilt!! I have to admit I am good at loafing, its the guilt part I struggle with... Being raising catholic and all it is a life struggle to shed the guilt, but I am getting better at it. I was a professional loafer in my early twenties and it set the tone for my adult life. Of course its difficult to justify loafing lifestyle to our culture. Now a days its becoming more difficult to find time to loaf, I am a full time student and full time worker so making time to loaf is more of an internal conversation that it has been in the past. I appreciate this assignment and all of the previous thought assignments we have experienced in this class that focus on concepts of time, energy and outcome and now the importance of loafing. I loaf best in the morning and almost always in nature. I prefer to loaf outside, with my body in the earth. Loafing generally means getting horizontal (sometimes inverted) Having  a dog makes loafing easy. My dog Larry loves to lay...

Chaos Theory

Ordered Chaos I always think of punk rock music when I think of ordered chaos. This can apply to all sorts of musical genres, but the basic concept is the same. Each musician is skilled and knows classical theories, buy each player may elaborate on their own, take the music in a different direction and then when it is all played together, layered on top of each other musical instrument it harmonizes well and begins to take a life of its own. And instead of hearing four different tones and rhythms it harmonizes and becomes one. This is why I love going to the symphony too--it makes my heart feel good. Fractals as patterns of complex systems fractals are extraordinarily fascinating. The complex design that is simply repetition of a simple design can increase surface area and expand boundaries all while remaining quite small. In nature they are mesmerizing to look at, like in a Romanesco broccoli, lightning bolt, tree branches and leaf patterns. Applied to the human level and technolo...

Meaning of Time

Can we slow time down? I do believe we can slow time down. I was once a manager of a very busy restaurant bar. We would sometimes serve up to 300 people on a single night, with only two bartenders. I was responsible for training my staff and one coworker once asked me advice about time management. I remember saying to them, you are in control of the time. don't ever forget that. You can slow down the time, just remember to make eye contact with each guest, welcome them, let them know you will take care of everything and time will always be your tool. Cultural implication of time... Various cultures have extremely different concepts of time. In America time is of the essence. Culturally we are constantly moving "quickly" but not always efficiently. and our rushing around and racing the clock can cause stressful disturbances to our health. In latin America and time seems to go slowly yet people are just as useful with their time. It feels like time is dictated by the ...

Synchronicity

Evidence for synchronicity? When I think about someone I have not seen for a long time and then that same day I run into them, that is evidence of synchronicity. It is the feeling of being on the same wavelength as another person, or knowing the feelings of an event before it happens. I like the quote form our handout " one must be able to establish a meaningful correlation between the objective outer event and the person's inner psychological state, and the correlation must be acausal". Connectivity?   We are not separated from ourselves,  our world,  and environment, we are deeply connected to it and our observations reflect that connectiveness.

Energy Matter Force

E- MC2                                                                                                                  I n regards to E=mc2 I have a difficult time wrapping my head around how it affects me. I suppose it affects me daily, from nuclear energy to the daunting thoughts of nuclear warfare in my lifetime. If I am thinking of it correctly, then the concept that "mass is released as radiant energy= heat & light" makes me think of starting a fire by hand. Has anyone had that experience? to spin a piece of wood onto a wooden block so quickly as to create friction so it starts a spark, then you can harness that spark with a piece of dried out mugwort or other starter "fuel" then add a li...

Vibration & Resonance

Vibrations: Not all vibrations are good. I think of the time I got "bad vibes" from the man that was following me, my sister and niece though the dark city streets in a foreign city. He was walking behind us in the shadows for a while, yet none of us saw him we all felt his presence. We stopped simultaneously and in sync with one another to confront the mystery man. He passed us, then waited for us to pass him again as he followed us to our destination. Thankfully nothing bad happened but it was his vibes that were a warning sign to us and I believe our collective vibe back that put a protective barrier between us and the strange being. This is just one example of bad vibes. Of course there are the more direct negative impacts of vibrations causing harm to our health such as cell phones, their corresponding towers and other electronic resonances. These are not all bad, yet they are not all good either. The good vibrations are what keep me in tune throughout the days, weeks...

Week 5-CP violation

CP Violation is the violation of the symmetry between charge and parity. This takes into consideration time as a non linear part of the equation.  it seems that the universe we live is in constant state of CP violation. Hardly ever is there a condition of being equal.

Symmetry & Super Symmetry

I find that both symmetry and asymmetry exist in my world.  The earth itself is an example of rotational symmetry and the image of it would look the same no matter where you were on the plant looking at it, even if it was from ten years ago or present day. Asymmetry happens more regularly and one example is observed when looking at the body. We may appear symmetrical from the outside: two arms, two legs, in form, but as we look beneath the skin our organs, shapes of stomach, liver for example exist in perfect asymmetry
